Phew! Site has returned (obviously, if this is readable). Still getting 404 errors last night at home, but I finally managed to ftp in. Megs said she got a bit of it, then it timed out. This is not so good…… my blog site has disappeared, and loopylou.co.uk is down. And when I tried ftp-ing, I got a message that said “home directory not found” or something to that effect. This doesn’t fill me with confidence. Saw Megs this morning, and she told me that it was there at 7.30pm, but gone by 9pm. I didn’t notice til 11pm, cos I’d been offline making ICQ skins. All my other sites hosted there are fine…. and there’s nothing even remotely offensive on here that would cause it to be shut down. This is so strange! I mean, I guess when I was using free servers and all that I was lucky never to have a site mysteriously deleted (happened to plenty of people I know). Still, I’ve got everything offline and in the blogger archives here, so I can republish with no probs. I just want to know what happened….. and when it’s coming back! I’m going to post this entry in the blogger archive thingy now…… if it ever gets read by anyone but me, then that means the site is back. Making this a pretty damn pointless entry. But I needed a little rant….. *g*
Hmmm….. it’s just filtered through to my tiny brain why the applications and other form submissions to the UKBAWC might not be redirecting properly…… it’s the only decent reason I can come up with, anyway. Hmmm….. it’s just filtered through to my tiny brain why the applications and other form submissions to the UKBAWC might not be redirecting properly…… it’s the only decent reason I can come up with, anyway. See, on the old server, I had this webmail facility set up through Everyone.net, and to use that, the MX records had to be pointed to them. All well and good, worked fine. However, when I moved the domain to be hosted by Neil, I couldn’t have that any more, so I’ve got a funky control panel setup to make POP3 and Forwarding accounts instead. *But* although the email works fine otherwise, all the form submissions are still going to the webmail account, which (a) shouldn’t theortically be able to receive anything from the domain any more {bored yet?}, and (b) is going to be deleted any day now. What I think is happening is that when I transferred the site, I didn’t think to change the formmail script, so the forms are still using the script on the old server. And since I didn’t have an official account there, nothing was cancelled when I transferred out. Soooooooo….. I think it’s possible that the formmail is still going to the webmail because the internal settings still show the MX records as pointing to it. Is this possible? Happens with DNS records, so why not this? Or am I talking utter cack? Guess I’ll just have to get my own formmail sorted out on the new server, and see if that does the trick. Pants.

Now trying to see if I can get the lil Blogvoices thang to tell me how many comments there are. *crosses fingers* Haven’t done my links page yet, cos…. well…… I watched Buffy and Angel on Friday night (as usual). Laughed my arse off at Buffy, cos she didn’t get there in time to stop Riley leaving forever (*snigger*….. not that I really hate her, but it’s good to see the heroine not getting it all her way). And then I watched Angel. In which Darla and Drusilla caused much mayhem. *vbg* The upshot of this is, I’ve been doing a brand new Darla & Dru website all weekend. I promised myself I wouldn’t make any new sites now. Guess I lied. Ho hum ;-)

Joined a few cliques n stuff yesterday. I’m going to expand my links, too – add a page for them, and just have the ones I visit daily on the main page…. maybe rotate a few or something. I’ll do that this evening. I registered with BlogVoices too. Also putting that up later….. and now back to work.

I think if I ever do another course anywhere, I’d rather go for something more on the practical design / coding / programming side now. But I still enjoy reading this kind of stuff. The site in general is also well worth checking out. Geek definition fits me to a T….

Oh, and the Referral Madness section over on NotSoSoft inspired me to take a peek at my own (embarassingly modest) stats. Most of the hits I’ve had have been from links, but I’ve had 3 search engine referrals (not too bad, I guess, since I haven’t bunged any keywords up or registered with any engines yet). Nothing strange and bizarre, but nothing really relevant either. One was for ‘alien pictures’ (that’d be the background, then *g*), and two for ‘Emily Bouffant’ (the girl I went to school with who’s now on telly).
Watched Shanghai Noon last night. Nicely entertaining – the funniest thing, though, has to be the subtitles for the American Indians. Tis impressive though, considering that Jackie Chan must be getting on a bit now – some of the fight scenes were pretty damn cool. And the subtitles were better than having it dubbed, too – some of his earlier stuff is kinda spoiled by the comedy dubbing IMO…. but on the other hand that’s kinda sposed to be like that, and you do get used to it. Heh. B has corrupted me. And talking of which, we’re sposed to be going to the pub quiz tonight…. I want to, but I’m sooooo tired. And also, these headaches aren’t of the good. I ought to go to the optician, I reckon. Maybe I’ll have a night of a bit of telly then bed, and no computer (yeah, right). Last couple of days I’ve also been playing with graphics for B’s new site, and updating the HRFHS site for Mum. I need fewer websites. Damn.

It was Shrove Tuesday yesterday (Mmmm, pancaaaaakes), which means that today is Ash Wednesday, and the first day of Lent. Heh, I’m glad I’m not Roman Catholic, so I don’t have to have a great big smudge on my forehead all day. *g* But anyway, I have to give up something now til Easter. Though we didn’t actually have pancakes last night since we had a takeaway and then we were full. LOL. So we’re having them tonight, and I’ll start Lent tomorrow instead. I’m such a procrastinator! I am going to do it, though. I’ve decided it’s about time to kick my ‘coke habit’. In case you actually did wonder, that’s Coca Cola, not cocaine. I practically live off of the stuff, which just can’t be good. I did say I was giving it up if I got this new job, and when I moved up here I was doing really well til Worf went missing – I was all upset, and needed the sugar! So it’s time to try it again…….
Should get the SPIKED Awards results up on the site this evening, and most of the awards out. I don’ t know if I’ll manage to get all the awards done for tonight, cos there’s drinking after work, and then further drinking later on at the pub quiz (I’ve been paid today, thank God, so I have money – yay!). But I’ll do my best, and I’ll at least email all the winners. I had a cock-up with the award graphics, you see, so I’m behind. Not too many more to do, though. I’ve also decided to do an honourable mention graphic for all the other sites / fics, but I won’t send that out for a day or two…..

Well….. hmm…. the voting for the SPIKED Awards is all done, and we have winners. *g* They won’t be announced until Wednesday, though, as I still have to finish off making some of the awards, and put the winning site and fic titles on the ones I already have. And I’m working another 5 day stretch again. Yes, I know most people work 5 days in a row, but I do shifts. Still, another 2 and a half weeks of it, and then I’ve taken 4 days leave which actually gives me 9 days off. Yay! :-) I’ll probably be spending the time getting my sites all up to date. Heh.
I know it’s silly, but I keep having dreams that I’ve found Worf. *sigh* There wasn’t any sign of him by the railtracks, in the end. Pesky animal that he is. But I hope it was him, cos at least that would mean he’s not far away. I still wonder if he’s trying to get back to London….. urgh.
Oh, hey, and I’m writing again…. I’d taken a bit of a break, but then I got inspired and now I’ve got 3 on the go. All Spike-y fic, of course.

I’m doing really well on the site revamping thing, you know. :-) British Buffy is all done…. minus some content, but most of that is down to B now, cos I bullied him into agreeing to contribute. *snigger*. I’ve also added some new stuff to Eternal…. Literally, made a good start on Soulstar Design and Spiked and Skewered, and I’ve added updates and more sections to The Airlock. Yep, that’s right, I spent both my days off glued to the computer, and I intend to do so again tomorrow and Saturday. I’m such a net geek. Yay! ;-)
Had an interesting thing, though. Or bloody annoying, and somewhat dangerous, depending on how you look at it. When I got up yesterday, the shower, the plug sockets, and the hot water were all off. Fiddled with the fuse box, managed to get the shower working, figured a fuse must’ve blown in one of the plugs. However, when I got in from work, B had discovered what the problem was: the boiler is up to its old tricks and there was water coming down the wall in the dining area. Oh joy. Down the wall, mind you, and into one of the plug sockets. Hence the fuse box having tripped out. He’d rung the landlord, and an electrician / plumber (he seemed to be both) came round and got stuff working for us. Still don’t know quite where the water was coming from, though. Urk.

Oooo, bit of a gap between posts….. heh. I’ve been busy-ish, you see, what with work, and doing website updates. I feel like I’m making actual progress now – I’ve moved Eternal… Literally, I’ve started re-doing British Buffy, I’ve decided on a design for the business site, and got a mock-up of that done, and I’ve sorted out the new design for Spiked and Skewered. Woohoo! Oh, and I’ve got updates done to The Airlock, too, though I havent’ put that up yet. Yay, go me! :-)
As for my real life…. *g* Megs was round last night, and we watched the first 2 eps of season 5 Buffy. Still no Worf. *sigh* Put a couple more notices up. *crosses fingers*
