I’ve been doing a bit of knitting… although I need to go and cook soon. Anyway, these are what I’m working on right now:
I’m a little worried I won’t have enough yarn for two whole socks, which is why I’ve stopped just short of the toe decreases (yes, my feet are that small) on the first one and started the second. I’m going to see how well the yarn seems to be doing on the way down the leg of sock 2, then decide whether I’ll need to rip back the first one and only have 3 pattern repeats for the leg instead of 4. Hopefully I won’t need to…
it looks great! The yarn does look a bit low, but you might get away with just having the calf one color and the foot another, perhaps?
Thank you! I really need to get an accurate pair of scales so I can weigh yarn and have a reasonable idea of these things. I’ve been going through my stash trying to see if I have anything that would work for the foot – a semi-solid in a colour that matches or compliments one of the colours in this yarn would be best, but I haven’t really got anything at the right weight… it’s quite a heavy fingering weight, and lovely and squishy, but unfortunately there’s not a massive amount in a skein. I’ve got a pair of socks out of it before, but I used the lot… and I think I’ve made these longer. D’oh.
Wow those will be gorgeous.. nice work! i knit.. but only rectangles and squares! scarves, blankets… nothing like socks!
ps thanks for the call out to my blog you made above!
Thank you! :-) You should absolutely give socks a go – if you can slog through a scarf, you can do socks. They’re simpler than they look, and heel turns are a special kind of magic!
And you’re welcome – thank you for making such a cool post. Many cool posts, in fact!
